I could even add a vent grate in the door to further allow cool air to be sucked in, although that may be a hard sell to my wife to be. Secondly, an over specced extractor fan would hopefully allow me to close the door and the room should essentially have negative pressure where it would begin sucking cooler air through the gaps around the door jam? I'm no physicist but I believe hot air rises, so if I have an extractor fan that is over rated for the size of the server room (it's like 8圆 ft) that should remove the hottest of the air? I'm wondering if I buy a T joint, cut the ducting going from the bathroom and install a bathroom extractor fan in the ceiling of my server room, and then connect it to the T joint so it's porting the air outside along with the bathroom air - is a good idea? This is during winter where outside is 60f right now.Īdding an AC vent to there would be quite expensive, but on the other side of that room is a bathroom with an extractor fan. Secondly, It's finally chilly in my location now, however server room stays warm.Īs you can see it's a solid 10f hotter than a room right beside it with an open door. I always have to keep the door open which my GF isn't a fan of because of the sound from the fans. So I converted a large closet into my server room and it's been fantastic however, the room gets awfully toasty with all the stuff I keep adding. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
